Malaysian airlines?
Discussion
I was under the impression that Malaysia Airlines were one of the better ones, and a 5 star airline (like Singapore Airlines). Therefore they should be a lot better than BA.

Maybe they've got better then - they were the first airline where we actually left the plane feeling hungry!* Three of our 6 legs were borderline inedible** and one of the others was eaten out of necessity.
Steward(esse)s were fine - not the best, but certainly not the worst (that goes to KLM for scheduled and Ryanair for budget)
* Yes, I know, poor plane - we should have brought it a food parcel!
** We love Thai and Chinese food and I like Vietnamese and Khmer food too. So we're not 'meat and two veg' people.

Have just returned (on Saturday) from Penang via Kuala Lumpur on Malaysian Airlines. On the way back the food was better than on the way there and it wasn't too bad on the way out, service was good so all in all quite respectable. What is a total disgrace, however, is Terminal 4 at Heathrow. The luggage hall is an absolute tip, our luggage was delayed because of a fault on the carousel, it finally arrived a whole hour after the plane landed.
We got back from Australia, via a four day stop over in KL, Saturday night on Malaysia Airlines, all in all Very Good staff were realy attentive plenty of food on each leg of journey, prawn curry for breakfast is different but I liked it. Apparently have one of the best Economy seat pitches but if you can afford it go Business. Only problem was having to travel from Heathrow to which I object. We were delayed out of KL but apparently due to problem at Heathrow delaying outbound flight but they looked after us with meal vouchers so cant complain. Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions.

Malaysian Air Lines are a first class airline, i fly with them all the time, from choice, their business class flights out of heathrow are excellent. I think they are the only direct flight from London (except Air Asia out of Stanstead, I can't remebr seeing a BA plane at KL airport for years, and I there at least twice a week. KLM is no good old planes not jumbos and they take an hour longer in the air than MAS, plus the time to get to AMS. The gulf air lines are OK if you are paying but take hours longer due to stop overs, same is try of Brunei Airline, very cheap but not worth the delay.
Pm me if you fancy a beer I am in Kl most weekends, but away in the week some times

Flew with them 2009 couple of long hauls into and out of KL and another couple of flights while travelling no probs at all not the smartest of interiors on my flights odd colour seats in economy but clean and tidy and the service was very good came round regularly with trays of assorted juice and water also regular hot towels were brought round and hats of the the stewardess who let me leave my seat while waiting to take off as i really needed a pee (own fault beers in the bar ) and the food was great makes a change from the usuall airline grub but best of all those boys can land a plane really soft touch down and real easy on the brakes every landing was spot on.

Royal Brunei is also a 'dry' airline if that's important to you, we've just come back from Oz and for the dates we were traveling they were over £600 per person cheaper than Qantas/BA but I didn't fancy that long in the air without a drink.Pm me if you fancy a beer I am in Kl most weekends, but away in the week some times
Edit. Just checked, they were £600 cheaper for the two of us, not each.

I have flown with Malaysia Airlines several times between Heathrow and Sydney, in Economy, and have no complaints. Cabin crew are helpful and attentive without being over the top. Food and snacks have been good, I have even had Magnum Ice Creams on a couple of flights! Plenty of water and juice offered to help with the dehydration. Some of the 747 interiors are looking a little worn but they are clean.
I am doing the trip again shortly and will be using them again.
