Recommend me a replacement TV
Discussion
Our 50" LG plasma has just gone pop. We've had it about 6 years and I understand this can happen. So, hey ho.
Please let me have your replacement recommendations. It is to be wall mounted.
Should I go, plasma, lcd, LED etc? What manufacturers? What other features?
I play a bit of xbox, and I suppose it'd be nice to get HD (although the old one was and we never took advantage...so maybe a bluray player needed too
)
We paid 'early adopter' prices for the old one, about £3500 I'd guess. So maybe get something decent for £1500-£2000?
Cheers.

Panasonic 50VT20 or maybe a Philips 56 99?? (the top end 21:9 screen - someone help with the exact model no.).
Both should be comfortably under budget.
That being said, we've just had CES where next years sets launched so if you want bang up to date you could wait till March for them to hit market. Will be a bit pricey.
Personally, I'd go straight for the 50VT20 and put the change into some tasty speakers to go with it.

As above VT20 or hang fire for the new 30 models' specs and prices to be released soonish.
I'm also tempted to suggest the Z1, but nothing seems to have changed on this one, since being introduced in '09.
So theoretically, the VT's pixel cell design eclipses that of the Z's, plus you have the 3D element to avail of with suitable BR player and media.
Will be over top end of budget though, but slimmest Plasma on the market, and wireless connectivity to its media box.
