Suspension re-bush
Discussion
Looking to re-bush suspension all round and get some new shocks on my 400SE. Can anyone tell me whether I would need to use standard or poly bushes and where I might get either of them from. Very few TVR suppliers websites include items for Wedges so knowing that many of you on this PH fountain of knowledge must have done this in the past, I'm appealing to your wisdom. Cheers
Thanks for your input everyone

You might find the Polybushes a bit firm for normal road use.
Yes that's what I thought. I would rather go for standard if I can. If, as Wedg1e suggests, I can get standard ones from Wales, that's what I'll do. But I don't want a mixture either really. Just talking about the A frame back end... I've got standard bushes inboard and solid ones outboard with a standard tie bar. This still gives a nice compliant ride but feels well planted.
With this setup I wouldn't want to stiffen up the inboard end or the tie bar any more as there needs to be a certain amount of extra movement to take account of the fact that the arc of the tie bar and the arc of the A frame/driveshaft are at 90 degrees to each other. If everything is solid then the suspension would lock up with travel.
As already said I’m really happy with this setup but a possible improvement would be to have solid inboard bushes standard outer ones and then fit some of Steve Heath’s rose-jointed tie bars. I haven’t modelled this though and it might cause some rear wheel steering with suspension travel.

The best setup is poly on the back and standard on the front. Poly does an excellent job of stopping the A frame from moving around but the front needs the compliance of metalastic to make the suspension work without twisting it.
Thanks for the insight Steve. Can you supply poly and metalastic?Edited by shpub on Tuesday 18th January 10:25
