Edinburgh Visit Help

Hi,
Me and the girlfriend are going to Edinburgh at the weekend. Can anyone recommend any good (and not too expensive) places to eat? We are staying fairly close to the centre so ideally somewhere close(ish) by.
Also I was thinking of the usual zoo/castle stuff - is there anything else worth having a look at in the time we are there?
Thanks in advance

Me n' her are just back from another Edinburgh weekend. There are a million places to eat in Edinburgh. Me and the girlfriend are going to Edinburgh at the weekend. Try L'Escargot Blanc in Queensferry St where a couple can enjoy a very tasty 3 course dinner for about £55-£60 (for 2) and a very decent wine for under £25 as well. If that's too cheap and you like the faintly ridiculous, try 21212 in Royal Terrace where there's a set price 5 courser available at £65 a head. The head chef's a character (apart from having a Michelin star) and the food's marvellously tasty and beautifully cooked and presented, but when you add an overpriced bottle, a couple of extras and a tip, you won't see change from £200. On the other hand, if you just want a decent bite in a good atmosphere, there's a pub (yes, pub) called The Theatre Bar beside the Playhouse Theatre on Leith Walk where the food's surprisingly good and the atmosphere's comfy and welcoming too.
As to things to look at, the options are endless. Wandering around the Old Town buildings is my choice, but the Scottish Parliament's a good place to spend an hour as well. The Royal Mile's a tourist must-see and The Grassmarket in the shadow of the castle's interesting too with some quirky little shops and a hundred little eateries and coffee shops. There's also Princes Street which is home to the National Gallery where there's always something special to see, and right now Jenners are having a sale with some pretty good deals on offer which is a good place to park yer missus whilst you go to Tynecastle where Hearts are hosting the mighty Glasgow Rangers (k.o. 12.45). I'll second this place, a cut above the usual pub grub. Often stop in for a bite in town. Get a seat by the fire for added ambience/warmth.We ate lunch here the other week.. http://www.musselandsteakbar.com/ Lovely food, good service, very reasonable lunch menu prices. They had a deal on for a £9 bottle of house wine too, don't know if it's still available.
I like this place but it's more expensive.. http://www.thestockbridgerestaurant.co.uk/ and a little (15min walk from Princes Street) out of town but worth it if you want to splash out a bit.
Loads of museums and galleries which are worth a visit, Groak sums it up pretty well though.
