I'm not anti Chinese but it always effects reputation when certain brands are relocated.
For example my Wifes Merc ML. "they were made in the US" was a common comment made with a certain tone of voice.
Harley were looking into making bikes in Mexico.
When you come to sell, your sure to get the "where was this one made" question.

You mean a bit like when cars/bikes started being made in Japan and were regarded as substandard?Years later which is regarded as the better quality product, China will go the same way, it is only a matter of time.

Some will be buying the badge/image, some will be buying a brilliantly made product and some will just be buying a "sportscar" - China (via Germany don't forget) can do all that today, don't kid yourself.
None will be looking to buy a car that isn't particularily well built, potentially not as practical (eg driving on salted roads), but more than compensates any shortcomings by being different - the Blackpool factor.

It is a bit of a non story though. The big volume Porkers are already built outside of Germany (maybe they rationalise this by looking back to 1942 when those countries were part of Germany? 
)and it makes sense to build the cars you'll be selling in China, in China. It'll massively boost sales as the price on the forecourt will plummet due to the removal of taxes, therefor they'll sell more having spent the last decade implanting the image of Porkers being a seriously expensive luxury brand.I'm sure Jags and Rangies will be built in India and China if there is local demand.
China is a vital market for growth for these companies so most of them within the next 10 years will be building there.
Whether they then decide to export them into Europe is yet to be seen but if the savings are there and the quality sufficient then you have to assume they will.
