I had exactly the same thing happen.

Although you got the car to start, I think you'll find the battery is dead.

Go get a new one (Varta blue dynamic B18, see my post on Battery replacement 1st Dec. 2003), once fitted all should be well.

i have just been out and got a new battery and the MIL light flashes, gauges all up and down , engine revs up and down. i have a nasty feeling that the ECU has gone to lunch.

How very strange, the only other thing I would suggest would be carry out a system reset. (I think it tells you in the manual how to do this)

I would wait for one of the technical bods to come along for further assistance.

Anyone seen AromaT or Fergusd, anyone else?

Regards, Neil

The ECU has lost its settings. Take your car for a long drive and it will settle back. You'll find it rough for a while though, and may have to rev it a bit at the lights to prevent stalls. 20 min run should sort you though.

Reseting the ECU - ignition on (but don't start the engine) and do 5 full pumps of the accelerator pedal.

Then start it.

Yep agree with the last post - reset the ECU by pumping the pedal 5 times

i recently changed my TB from the plastic one to the ally one and when all was fitted and i turned it over and the idle was at 2000 rpm - so just reset the ECU and now all is fine.

I had a very simlar thing happen and it went away after driving it around for a while, then the revs were really low and it stalled very easy and after a couple of weeks of regular use it all went back to normal.
