A 'mate' of mine
has let the MOT on his (motor)bike expire without realising until today
Fortunately he has not been stopped etc. so no 'producer' problem and his bike is perfectly safe etc.
My question to those in the know (BiB's etc) what is the penalty (if caught) for no MOT.
BTW the next trip for 'his' bike is to a pre-booked MOT test on Monday - but I understand that this is OK legally?

Depends on the police force as they have different policies.
If you can produce your previous MOT and the expiry time is not too long (1 month?), plus your new MOT, a warning letter (slap on the wrist) may be all.
Even longer may just result in a warning if everything else is OK plus new MOT.
The most important thing is to show willing and get the new MOT.
