Has anyone had issue with Dealers putting in the wrong ammount of oil in M3 E92's?

At my running in service I noticed on the Idrive that it showed the oil on the lower end of the ok range, the dealer informed me that it had the correct ammount and that the digital display is notoriously difficult to show as full but not to worry ( yeagh right ) Low and behold only 1000 miles later it asked me to add an additional 1 litre of oil and then the display showed it at maximum.

I am more than a little annoyed that after my oil service last week this has happened again ( different dealer ) and it asking me to add oil. To be fair to the service department I am going too they are apologetic and said I can get the car striaght back in and they will check what has happened but I am wondering if they have the wrong advice on how much should be put into the car?

Does anyone have any thoughts?

It a common tactic. I have caught them twice. They sell another litre within a couple of weeks , easy money.

er, it may be a common tactic but surely that is fraud?

my last service said x litres of oil @ £y on the receipt

if they do not actually put that amount in then they are breaking the law

I think they take about 8.5ltrs and i always take my own oil from opie oils as it is about half the cost so you only get charged labour and they give you the spare oil back to top up.

I've just had an oil service (2 weeks ago), but didn't think to actually check the oil gauge in the car afterwards. Will have a look this evening.
