Anyone been to the Philippines??

I have 5 weeks in SE Asia coming up from 10th of Feb onwards, sort of thinking I could allocate two weeks to the Philippines?! The beaches are supposed to be some of the best in the world.

I have a tight budget for the 5 weeks so would be mainly staying in backpackers haunts or finding bamboo beach huts to stay in.

Anyone got any recommendations, advice etc.
