Lots of reasons

It's a highly charged and emotive story that involves mothers and sick children needing care

CMD is involved

Mumsnet 'speaks' rather a lot for politically active (or at least aware) middle england - it's certainly a forum very popular with people willing to speak their mind

Sadly it's also a story affecting in some form or other many people.

Right, but "Katy Perry's eyes" has easily had as much interest, so surely that is a matter that the British public find just as emotive if we're looking at this logically? tongue out

PHs was on the news after all the Hammond gushing. We even had one of our PHers being interviewed about the campaign.

I think Stuart himself was on the telly talking about cars or cycling shirts or something.

That allegedly dodgy politician PHer was also on the news a few years ago relating to his postings on here.

I think the newsworthy bit is that Cameron visited her after a previous online discussion she posted looking to gain some political capital in the run up to the election.

Please, do carry on. The first few words doesn't narrow it down much at all... and as for a politician who likes gas guzzling child killing V8's.. who was the politican alleged to be?

Once they get into the contact book at the BBC they become the first port of call for a spokesperson on any related issues.

I'm bewildered. Why is it the council's responsibility to provide help? She has a family and friends, that's what they're there for, surely?

Turn the question on it;s head. Why should social services not help a family who need support for looking after someone whose needs outstrip those of their primary care providers (namely parents) Also, why should family and friends be obliged to help?

This is the problem with pistonheads

we're too pro-conservative here - they know the issues on here will remain and we'll still be pro-conservative

we need to be pro-labour and then they'll pander to katy perry's eyes!!

idiot from Scope said:
Alex O'Dwyer, from the disabled charity Scope, said: "Some local authorities are facing up to 28% cuts and we know that disabled people and their families are proportionately much more reliant upon social care and those services.

"We're also concerned because there is some money that's been put aside that David Cameron talks about for respite care, but that hasn't been ring-fenced so councils can actually choose to spend that money elsewhere.

"Fundamentally I think they don't actually understand the reality of the lives of some families with disabled children."
I think DC understands full well all about the lives of families with disabled children!

What amazes me is how seriously that particualr site is taken, given the very poor grammar/spelling/tx spk/profanity used.
