Anyone studying/studied CIPS?

I'm interested in hearing from people who are studying CIPS, or have studied it recently.
Perhaps a bit of shared learning, a bit of help, a few tips, etc would be a nice idea for everyone studying it?
I'm just embarking on it, having started at Level 4, and have my first exam on Monday! I'm studying right out of the book, with no other study aids. I bought the e-Learning package, but it's awful, so I'm going it alone!

I'll be watching this with interest as i've always considered doing this as i've been doing buying for the last 12 years or so.
Pulse, how are you finding the course, difficult or a piece of piss?
I worry abbout stuff like this as i've not sat an exam since i was 15 and i dont see myself as that intelligent academically.

Hi Chief! I remember your thread about maybe doing CIPS. I think you'll find it a lot easier than me, as I have barely any experience in the field, but wanted to expand my knowledge in something to compliment my project management experience.Pulse, how are you finding the course, difficult or a piece of piss?

I found my first exam OK, and I am fairly confident I've passed that. I'm now about to take my second exam, and have been studying contract formation, case law, express terms, implied terms, etc, and finding this one a bit harder. I still think if you are willing to put the time in though (which in truth, I haven't), then you'll have no problems!
I'm doing it entirely from the book, so I think you'd find it even easier in a classroom setting.
It's slightly different for you, as you've had a lot of experience, but I'm finding it really interesting and already feel I can put some of my knowledge into practical use, regardless of whether I pass or not.
I'll dig out what the course entails for you at some stage, but there's some good info on the CIPS website. Search for 'Unit Content Guide'.

That gives you an idea of what's included. My experience so far has only been of L4-01 (Effective Negotiation) and L4-02 (Developing Contracts).
Effective Negotiation talks about perceptions and planning properly before a negotiation (and evaluation thereafter). I found it very interesting!
Developing Contracts talks about case law, the formation of contracts (Offer, Acceptance, Consideration & Intention to Create Legal Relations), battle of the forms, implied terms, express terms, etc. I'm finding this one equally interesting, but more challenging. The biggest challenge is remembering specific terms. You can't blag it!
I hope that's of some help. If you've been in buying for a long time, you may be able to start at Level 5 instead, saving you a year/5 exams.
The costs aren't high at all to self study though, so I see no reason not to do it if you have the time! The exams are £75 each (£375 per year) and the books are £30 each (or £135 when bought in a bundle). Registration is £140. So total costs per year (assuming you do 5 exams a year - you don't have to!) are £650.
