OK, having had my Cape Verde plans shot down in another thread, thoughts turn to the Caribbean again, even though it is a very long way to go for 7 days.

Has anyone been? Going end April (to avoid that poxy wedding!)

Looking at either Cocos Beach or The Verandah and it would be really nice to hear from anyone who has been to either.

Other suggestions are welcome.

Cheers all.

oh is it? there were some cheap deals there last year.

I'm good, was in your shop the other day, think you were out doing the selling thing or scaring the pants off some poor punter.

Went to Antigua back in 2001, stayed at Sandals Dickenson Bay.

Not sure how much the island has changed since 2001 but it was lovely when I went. Would love to get back their sometime soon.

Another vote for Hermitage Bay here, although I understand prices have increased in the 2 years since I went. May be worth seeing if someone like Kuoni have any kind of offers, I think that is who we booked with.

Probably the best 'resort' I've stayed in anywhere - will definitely go back.

Really liked the look of the Hermatage, but it was coming back at £2700.00-odd EACH for 7 nights. Does look like our kind of place but just cannot stretch to it at the moment.

The Verandah is looking favourite, as Cocos Beach was all very tranquil but no TV's anywhere in the whole place.

I'm all for "no shoes no news", but I quite like having a drink and watching some rubbish whilst she gets ready for dinner!

Any other suggestions are welcome though.

Craig... YOU bd! hehe

Spoke to Brett, could now be going to LeSport @ St Lucia and spending far more than I wanted to.

Nice guy though, thanks for the tip.

Stayed at the Verandah last January, really nice place, the place is spread out and everyone has their own bungalow. Nice coved beach, great for watersports (no sniggering at the back). The place came across as being quite new, even the pool looked like it had just been filled! As an Carribean island, i liked antigua, but dont think it is a nice as Barbados as that has it all (IMHO).

Food is nothing to get excited about, on refection actually its crap.

If your looking for a stay in luxury resort, verandah is nice, but its the a$$ end of nowhere, if you want to be able to go out without getting murdered prob best go to Barbados.

The missus went there a few years back and said compared to Jamaica (her home) it was quiet and more laid back. She had fun and said she'd go back.

Thanks for the help guys.

Finally got talked into Sugar Ridge in Antigua - which looks nice.

All inclusive with flight and room upgrades just over £1500.00 a head, bang on budget.

Le Sport in St Lucia sounded really nice, but the more I looked at it the more I thought "thats going to be full of pretty young things" and my self esteem could not take it at the moment!

Thanks again.
