Caught by unmarked car

Caught at 98.7 on the A507 today by an unmarked Silver police merc. Have to produce license within 7 days at local station.
Anyone care to suggest what i am likely to recieve in trems of pointsfine? Currently no points on license.
It was a clear day on an empty roada apart from the umarked car. Merc was doing 60 so i accelerated in 4th and then slowed down once past (all caught on film) but he had me at 98.7 average for i believe a 10 yard period ;(

The speed that he has got you at was the average speed. Thats to say that it wasnt your slowest and wasnt your fastest.
You are both lucky and unlucky in this case.
Lucky in the respect that less than 2mph and you would have been looking at a ban.
Unlucky in that hes decided to follow the ACPO Guidelines to the letter and is sending you to Court instead......as should be in this case (common sense applied), of an Endorsable FPN.
He would/should have given you the warning formula as well.........along the lines of, 'you will be reported for the question to be considered in prosecuting you for the offence of Speeding'.
This is given applicable in cases of speeding and a couple of other offences but it needent be given at the time.
As a matter of course, i give it for almost everything because i like to be in no doubt that the person im dealing with knows whats going to happen.
As regards a penalty in this case......3 points and a fine of about £100.

I can't find my license but i do have a photocopy, what shall i do about presenting a document i don't currently appear to have? AND is 100mph+ a definite ban then?
You will get the option when the Summons comes through.
A photocopy Licence is no good but i would take it to the Police Stn within the 7 days and explain to them the situation and show them your Driver number....not a problem.
As regards the 100+ being an automatic ban.....again it varies if your just over, but at the Courts that we use...its an Automatic ban.
Probably because the Court is right next to the Motorway.

If he didn't, then i don't think you've been reported, unless he was merrily filling in a small white book with process book written on the front, as well as the HO/RT1. If he was, then you might be going to court, IF the process section think there's enough evidence to take you to court

Many years ago I was stopped for speeding and the officer's first question to me was "do you have any idea what speed you were doing, driver*?"
What do you say in such a circimstance without incriminating yourself?
My response at the time was "Ah. Errr, yes", which seemed to do the trick because he let me off with a caution.
But if pressed, what should one say?
(* - didn't call me "sir" once, just "driver", but then again I was an 19 year-old lad with a moustache like an earwig)

Quick question.....did he show you the video? also, in my experience, the Mags will only want you there if they are considering Disqualification.
Quick question: If you get pulled over and "invited" to sit in the back of the "locked" police car(child locks always on 
) when the video camera is turned around to video you; Supposing you dont want to be videoed? Can you object to it? Do you have any right to request not to be videoed?
Question only arises due to watching too many cops n robbers documenatries where ive noticed they do that.

Yes, form was HO/RT1, is this standard or good/bad?
The 'consider to prosecute' was the verbal NIP, so no need to send a paper one through the post.
The form should have been the DPS1 (replaced HORT1 over a year ago now) Its a combined producer and stop check/search form under PACE and is counted with your ethnic origin being most important.
You would expect to get a means related fine and up to 4 points. (You had better budget for between £60 and £150 I think depending whether you plead guilty or not

You do not have to get into anyones car. I would suggest that you certainly don't from a man who offers you sweets or asks if you would like to come and see his puppy!
If you are asked to get into a car which has video equipment of your miscreant behaviour, I suggest that you do so if it is pissing down or they appear to be geneal persons wanting to show you. If they decide you should be part of the video nasty, you can always hide behind the head rest and make out your name is 'Kilroy was here'.
The moral is 'Dont get into anyone elses car I think'!
