Recently had the front end of my Volvo resprayed to get rid of all the stone chips, (collected on various PH hoons last year) and would like to protect the paintwork from future damage and am aware there is a protective film that can be applied, would appreciate advice from anyone who has had this done, any recommendation's and idea on price please.
Thanks
David

+1. Getting my bonnet resprayed in the spring. I had some clear film applied to the RS6 by Audi after it was resprayed. Because it wasn't done properly it looked st. The edges were uneven and it it lifted when the frost came. It didn't stay on long. I can imagine it would look fine if done properly, but getting someone to do a proper job is 99% of the battle.

Paintshield in Peterbourgh. Tom is the main man there, very good, dust free workshop. I have had three previous cars done and my current motor, so good no one notices its fitted! Well worth the drive.

Thanks for that, how much of the car did you have done, did you include the wing mirrors?

I had a full frontal, which means bumper, bonnet, wings and mirrors, also had the rear arch Porsche standard stone film replaced with larger pieces.

What paint shop do you use?
I've been quoted between £800 and £1500 to spray out stone chips on my Cerb!

I used Haydens on Hayling Island 02392 462660 did bumper spoiler bonnet wing mirrors, excellent job. Also had a similar quote from M&L Body Shop in Petersfield, in all honesty, these are my preferred people as they are very professional with an immaculate work shop, clean clean clean, but I opted for my local body shop. I paid £470 cash, and M&L came out at £550 cash.

Paintshield isn't just about how much it'd cost compared to respray(s), but the peace of mind of no longer worrying about getting stone chips.

So glad I had mine done.

Nice, you neglect to tell everyone this is a CUSTOM job and that it will effectively be a one off/

Please tell the kind PH audience the age of the car, so they can see that no one has a full frontal set of patterns for this car and work out how many I am likely to sell in future (none I reckon)!!

Thats like saying House of Kolor costs too much compared to Chipsaway.........!!

PH insufficient data matters!

Hey, hold on don't go throwing all your toy's out the pram in one go, as it happened, I did have another customer all lined up for you. Blimey, if I was to slag my customers off because they would not accept my quote, I would half expect no one else to bother contacting me!!!!! I think a PM would have been more diplomatic.

Would just like to say I am not associated with Paintshield in any way, just a satisfied customer.

I replied in good faith when the question was asked about paint protection film.

No it is not dirt cheap (and I never said it was) but I do think in my opinion it is worth the money. Firstly because of how well it works, secondly it avoids that annoying in between respray peppered stone chip look and thirdly the level of professionalism and detail applied by Paintshield in the application.

Hope all is good in Peterbourgh Tom, and hello Doorman hope to meet up on one of the Pub Club meets in the summer when I get home as I am currently crossing the South Atlantic!
Pete

Edited for crap spelling!
