My wifes friends husband has recently got one of these and just cannot stop raving about it. It's I believe Y/X reg no idea of what he paid for it however he has a history of getting hot hatches or sports models.

Talk to me.
I believe it looks dire interior poor no performance and frankly your lucky to not drive one. However having never had a steer of one and this recommendation is at odds. Clearly he isn't taking the piss as he has physically bought it through choice and tight budget isn't the reason nor kids nor van shaped vehicle to carry more goods.

It never looked that bad to me, I'd put it in a bucket with the MINI, new Fiat500, etc. as attempts to shoehorn retro designs onto modern vehicles that only half succeeded at best.

Never driven or indeed sat in one, so I have no idea of the rest.

I've not been in one. But I don't mind the look of them. In a nice met blue with the Chrome trimmings. Certainly better looking and more interesting than a Focus/Astra/Golf. Actually for a "normal car" I'd say they are great looking.

I'm sure the plastics inside will feel cheapish, but again the design flare of the interior is appealing and in terms of look, design and appearance it gets my vote.

It's a novelty car like a Beetle or a 500C.

X/Y reg models are down to less than two grand, so as a more "interesting" alternative to a similar age Focus or Golf, I can see the appeal.

I had one as a hire car in the US a few years ago, not great dynamically, but fine for lazy American 60mph driving, spacious with the high roofline, and good visibility.

Given that it's one of the ugliest cars that you can buy, I can't see a good reason for owning one. They're bloody hideous.

I know people who have owned them who have been more than happy with them. I think the main drawback is a stellar turning circle.

For a moment I thought you where going to say something intelligent, some sort of rational or constructive argument. Sadly it appears not! wink

Ex-girlfriend had one (shared with her mum). I actually quite liked it, it was a bit different, used to borrow it when I needed more than 2 seats. The (auto) 'box was dire. I don't think I ever remember it kicking up to top gear - always seemed to be running around in 2nd/3rd, very revvy - and therefore, thirsty. But nice seats, a pleasant place to be, and felt quite "tonka" inside.

If I could get a manual one for cheapy-cheap, I'd have one as a hack.

Why would you think that....you don't know me confusedwinkbiggrin
Rationale and constructive argument have no place here, this is an opinion based forum! hehe
It is a bad car though..come on...it represents alot that is is naff about the US car industry (in the same way the VW Beetle represents what was/is naff with the European one) particularly those that have been adorned with chrome and some flames down the side... eek
A friend of my dads' had one...and sadly I was given a lift in it... Subjectively it looked god awful from the outside..inside everything looked and felt god awful...from the passenger seat it felt - to me - wallowy with little ride compliance or handling finesse....the noise was not memorable and in the end after the 3rd car to overtake with giggling occupants looking at us, I couldn't wait to get away from it... now however when I see them, I can't help but giggle at the occupants - so in a way, by making me happy it does appear to have a redeeming feature.... for me smile
Thats my opinion, neither rational or constructive...you'll have to join a different website for that I fear wink

There is one down the road from me with more chrome stuck to it than a gypsy's caravan, it looks daft.
Standard ones are fairly inoffensive but not my cup of tea.

I quite fancied one for my station/nursery/school run car, look different and are very cheap (£4.5k for a 3 year old, even a soft top is only £5k http://www.cargiant.co.uk/Chrysler/PT_Cruiser/deta... I asked the guy who services our cars about them and he said they were very unreliable and seemed to run very badly, which has put me off.

A mate had one - the build quality on the inside is heroically bad...
