Ok.....Just been out for a blast in the sunshine. Have started to notice a bit of clutch slip at WOT ~4000rpm where torque is about at its maximum. Up to now it has been fine so I am assuming the friction plate is simply starting to wear out.....I know I should have replaced the clutch Friction/Pressure plate during last years rebuild but chose not to... I took the view that clutch replacement should be fairly straight forward if required.

So the question.......any recommendations for an upgraded clutch pressure/friction plate I can get for the Getrag set up.....and if so where ?

Thanks

Hi

To be honest im surprised the Trag is holding together they really do not like Torque!! I would speak to Richard on the clutch but it has a small contact area compared to say a G50 clutch so you are fighting a losing battle to be honest!!

Have you tried looking on the Porsche forums to see if they talk about any 996 transaxle clutch upgrades? The 996 TT transaxle runs on cables and is very similiar to the Trag(but a lot stronger) could you run a triple plate clutch like Can Am Dave does?

Hi

My car is not running yet, but I am fitting a Tilton triple plate clutch 7.25"
By all accounts they eliminate the issues normally associated with triple plate clutches i.e. grab.

Try Superclutch at Southam they may be able to help.

I had a triple plate on my sbc/993 combo, it was really nice.
