The store in Dartford (I'm sure others have the same floor) has a smooth "shiney" concrete floor. Is that a polished concrete floor? I thought it was meant to be expensive but it can't be if they have it in a huge superstore.

How much does it cost to get done? I need about 14m2. I just want a hardwearing grey floor and like the look for my kitchen when it gets built.

Alternatively does anyone know where I can get Grey "quarry" tiles like they have in the Everest Kitchen Shop in Bromley (possibly other stores).

Makro, costco, b&q etc are all polished concrete floors. Although they will not as far as i'm aware be anywhere near the finish of a proper domestic polished concrete floor which look amazing.

As far as costs are concerned it is VERY expensive to be done properly, i cant remember exact figures, there are a few sites on the net which give some indication of guide prices.

I love the stuff and would love to have it but imo you definately need ufh which will make it even more expensive and complicated. I deal for new builds really.

Lots of dust or slurry as well.

You can have all sorts mixed in with the concrete to give different finishes if that sort of thing floats your boat too.

Might be worth trying some latex (self levelling floor screed )and some floor paint.

Regular concrete is bout £80m3?

Can't be too expensive to have people come in to finish it off and polish it.

As said above, unless there's underfloor heating, it'll be really cold all the time.

I'd go for tiles, you'll then know exactly what finish will be, rather than pay a lot of money to end up with what looks like a screeded floor waiting to be tiled/finished.
Find a decent tile shop, there are some amazing natural stone and composite tiles available. A sealed or stain resistant one will help if it's for a kitchen.
