Water behind glass in wing mirror
Discussion
Difficult to explain but there appears to be water between the silver reflective layer and the glass front layer. These pictures may work:
This shows the mirror almost full of water with air bubbles at the top:

This shows what happens when I squidge it with my thumb. Notice the water moves so the air bubble now looks like a mad foot.

Stop squidging at it returns to this :

There is a thin layer of water between the glass and mirrored bit on the wing mirror of my Merc.
Before I get wallet raped to replace it, is there any way of drying it out?
Mercedes CL W215 if it makes a difference.
The reason for the high price tag for a mirror glass , is not because its just a high end german car . Before I get wallet raped to replace it, is there any way of drying it out?

I am sure going by the model (not up to date with what options were standard on the cl) that the fuild you see is not water , its a special fuild injected at the factory when the glass is made (same as on bmw M cars) the fuild is used to dim/tint the glass when an electric current is passed through the mirror , so when the head lights are switch on this works so reducing the glare from headlights behind from another car .
Auto dimming/dipping mirrors inside and out , My M5 had this option and after the last low temp winter done exactly the same to my mirror .
you can either very carefully drain off the fuild so becoming one shade/colour or buy a new mirror glass

That sounds like a very likely cause. The car has auto everything so auto dimming mirror glass sounds right. It would also explanin the pleasant bronze shade.
Thats it , it is possible to gently pull apart the backing from the glass and drain the fuild out completely so becoming one colour , but myself just fitted a new mirror glass kelly
