Utter tosh! Nothing wrong with a welded crack in a wheel. You do know that your car is held together by welds, don't you? Including major suspension and steering components? Boilers and such on nuclear reactors?
OP - try someone like The Wheel Specialist (google) who can advise, or take the wheel in to them and they'll get it done and then can refinish the wheel for you. They did that for me.
It's impossible to say how much it would cost without knowing the damage and the type of wheel. Could be anywhere between £50 and £150, or maybe more. It might even cost more than a new wheel, although we don't know what type of wheels we're talking about either. What I do know is if the weld fails and there's an accident I doubt the insurance will pay out.

ks !Any competant wheel repairer will drill a hole at the end of the crack before welding to stop it getting longer and as for it falling out christ it's WELDED not glued in
