There's a video online somewhere of a guys' Monaro/VXR thing being taken for a 'test drive' by some mechanics at 120+mph. He had one of those in-car camera systems which recorded the whole thing. Bang to rights. Luckily they didn't kill a kid.

As I put in my thread on this over in NP&E - it beggers belief as to why the hell people take ANY car to these people.

The sheer amount of times they have been in the news, on TV, and just simply known for shoddy workmanship and ripping people off - HOW are they still in business.?!

And now the incompetent idiots have taken a life with their stupid chavvy fitters. Please just close down now...

Years ago when I was doing my work experience at a MOT station the young lad that worked there took some blokes slr 'around the block' to get it inside from the carpark, quite a difference compared to his 1.3 KA.

Edited because I'm FFFick.

Didn't think they made a 1.0ltr Ka?

Such a stupid thing to happen, I hope they get what they deserve. It says in the link that it's aggravated vehicle taking, how come it isn't just a case of TWOC?

Some of us don't have a choice - they're the preferred tyre and brake supplier for most major lease companies - that's how they make their money.

That's fair enough - I am speaking of those that DO have a choice...

If it is not my car (ie company or rental), I don't really care where it goes as ultimately, it is not my responsibility. I will, however, make an effort to get the carfleet or management company give me a choice to go ANYWHERE else if possible.

If not, their problem. I wouldnt trust KF to do a visual inspection of a car without breaking something...

Apologies my mistake I'm not brushed up on ka's it may have been a 1.3? He gave me a lift home in it one night and it certainly felt very slow. For someone to drive an slr from little to no experience of high powered cars is ridiculous.

This is why I use my phone to take a photo of my mileage when leaving the car at a tyre fitter/airport parking etc. I would call the police if I ever found a discrepancy.

Though I'd find it hard to believe, I'm willing to wait til the police have finished an investigation in case there's any other explanation. But if this is a true sequence of events, I hope these men are punished harshly for what they've done. There should be no excuses for this behaviour.

The fact that they rev the arse off anything as they put onto a ramp is the reason I never go there.

What a tragic story. I hope they throw the book at him.

I've been to KF once.
They tried to rip me off, only for a couple of Pounds, but that was enough for me.
Pulled them up on it, got the money back and have never been near the place since..and never will again.

Mate of mine stupidly took his car to them. After taking ages to fit, he returned to find his car with no wheels on, resting on 3 trolley jacks with the rear right sill folder under! Their response was 'not to worry we'll fix it' and proceeded to 'fix it' with a sledge hammer. Needless to say, he wrote to head office, and much to my amazement, they actually paid for a professional repair at a VW bodyshop! Needless to say, I'll never venture anywhere near one after all the horror stories I've head. This only confirms it!

I have heard many many more from around the various offices / clients I work at. Some are a lot worse than that! This is why I am so stunned that people still go there. Almost everyone knows how bad their (deserved) reputation is. The reputation is given through forums / national news / newspapers / word of mouth of how terrible they are.

It seems to me that, as a car owner - even if you have no interest in cars - people MUST realise this... confused

My Father had to take a company car there and looked through the 'viewing area' window and saw a lady quick fit fitter let a trolley jack handle spring up and hit the door of the audi it was jacking up. She looked around to see if anyone saw it and carried on.

When I was young, they also ripped of my old girlfriend about 12 years ago with some monstrous exhaust on her punto. A proper exhaust is hidden behind the valence, the new one sounded awful had a bend down about 6" from the floor, you could see the back box from behind and the tailpipe stuck out instead of being tucked up and downturned. they charged £220 and that was 12 years ago, needless to say I went back and made them replace it with a genuine one, but some people know little about such things and think it's OK.
