Here is a link to a thread on TNF. This is a bit of a treasure trove. Apparently the Soviet Union took some Auto Unions along with a few other cars from Zwikau to Russia. This Russian chap seems to have found a load of photos and documents relating to what the Russians did with the vehicles. Apparently some of them were dismantled, some were taken apart then reassembled as if they were a Russian design. Some of them remained complete and at least one was bought back by audi, years later, in exchange for a lot of money and a replica.

I find it genuinely painful to read this stuff - what majestic racing cars. What the Karassiks and Colin Crabbe did in finding the Silver Arrows is fantastic. I suppose we are lucky that there are any survivors and also that C&G are so capable in their restoration.
