Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a race suit from ebay, which is marked FIA 8856-2000 Approved.

Can someone tell me when the suit will exprire? Also is it suitable for all Motorsport, including International?

Unfortunately, I don't know the date of manufacture yet.

Any help much appreciated.

It's a current standard :

Regs usually last 8-10 years.

Isn't the key date the last two digits on older sits or the date that all later suits have on them which all denote the year of manufacture.

Perhaps somone could confirm whether its true that there's a 10 year life for some (all international?) series too. Consequently, a suit manufactured in 2000 may not be suitable for all events. The numerals that the OP stated here are just the regulations to which that particular suit was constructed, not the year of manufacture which could well be on a label in the zip seam...
