Can anyone recommend a hotel in the Lake District? Not really bothered if it's town or country as long as it's comfortable and has a few things to do locally as we are only using it as a stopover on our way to Scotland.

TIA

What sort of star rating/cost/quality?
Does it have to be within the national park or just nearby?

We'd want something 3/4* and I guess £150/175 per night. Location not really that important, ie don't need a view of a lake etc.

Drunken Duck, Ambleside.

I got it as a recommendation from here. Awesome place. Lovely accommodation and great food. A micro brewery on site.

Armathwiate Hall is one of the best hotels in the Lakes apparently, although its about 40 minutes away from the M6, travelling west on the A66.
