Easter Sunday -Test Day
Discussion
Whilst it isn't Pre-qualifying of old, all rookies drivers will have to bank their 10 laps, plus other teams may feel the urge to generate more test data.
So, seeing as how it is xonveniently in the middle of long weekend off from work it would be almost rude not to pop over.
Is anyone else going?
More usefully, from those who have gone before, do you have any tips? Is it asier to get around the circuit for action photos?
Thankee.

Funnily enough I was pondering this at the weekend.
Was looking at driving down the day before, camping somewhere nearby and then heading back the day after the test. Was hoping it would be rather less busy and may offer some opportunities to get some decent photographs with fewer people to contend with.
I think if I decide to go it will be a last minute effort, possibly based on what the weather forecast looks like !
The locals turn out, but I use the opportunity to do most of my press photography at Indianapolis that day - after all, they can,t barring snow or hail, tell that they weren't taken during the race. It's very easy to get around, local interest and professional journalists but not that many spectators.
I used to go to Pre-qual every year. The cars regularly seemed to driving quicker than during the race. It's a great weekend, Hotels are usually available too if you want.
From what I remember and no idea if it's changed, the ACO used to have a small triangular tear off from your June ticket for Pre-qual. So if you by a main event ticket, you get in free, so to speak.
Well worth going.

I was thinking about this as well, been to a couple of these a few years back and enjoyed them, can anyone confirm if its still included in your main June ticket as I saw some agent (can't remember who?) advertising them for sale?
Yes, a General Admission ticket for June does include admission to test day at no extra cost. There are tickets for Test Day only which is what I suspect you have seen an agent selling.
What we say to customers is to let us know if they plan to go and we will make sure that we deliver their tickets in god time.

If you've ordered your entry tickets from the ACO and they've not arrived yet then you can go and speak to them in the ticket office in the expo park and they'll give you free passes for the test day.
I've been a couple of times to the PQ/Test day and it's and interesting atmosphere compared to the 24h week due to much less people and hardly any non-French spectators.

Great to see a Pescarolo on the grid (he's hoping to be at St. Saturnin by the way) and how I am relieved, after last year's scandalous non-performance, not to see a Jaguar in sight.
I am very pleased for Henri, but I would have thought you in particular would hav been more foregiving of jaguar, especially on the 50th E type even.Still we will enjoy St Saturnin with a jag hat on and the 24 with a pesca hat on
Loving my Jaguards as I do, it hurt badly to see the astounding lack of preparation of their GT class last year. It didn't even qualify since the rookies hadn't done enough laps, but it still started the race just like the JLOC Lamborghini the year before. One doesn't like to see one's favourite marque being the butt of evberyone's jokes in the press office, even though it was well deserved. If you are intending to race, at least turn up with a car that is capable of racing.

To be fair to Paul Gentilozzi I think he was a very experienced racer but obviously didn't have a fully prepped and tested car. If the ACO give you an entry your hardly going to turn it down are you?Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
