Yes, their leaders have failed them time and time again to sort this mess out.
It's tough when you have such formidable foes as the Israeli and U.S. against you. I supposed they could have sold their soul to the USSR during the cold war (like the Viet Minh) and stood a better chance.that would've been a real situation
usa/israel vs palentinians+russians+arab states.
in all honesty the fact that the usa went on about democracy and elections - they were held and hamas won legitimatly and all of a sudden usa decides against democracy and talking to the people who got voted in then there's something definately one sided.

It's only democracy when the elected party gets american approval. Israel/Palestine threads have always been lively affairs on here. Few can disguise their leanings towards either side. Rarely does anyone consider the whole picture, or the interests of ALL the influential players behind the scenes (not just the USA).
I've said before, anyone espousing a 2 state solution is talking nonsense... It will be at least a 10 state solution if there is to be any chance of success... and the problem with that is that too many of the 10 (and I'm not referring to either Israel or Palestine here) simply don't want a solution to be found.. not least because the on-going suffering of the Palestinian peoples serves their own strategic political aims.

Should the Palestinian give up and accept whatever the Israeli give them now?
With no one of substance on their side, they are going to be Annexed within the next 50 years or so otherwise.

I can't think of anybody in their right mind who would actually want to annexe them. The Arabs don't want them, neither do the Israelis.
(Possibly because their view on what constitutes a "rocket scientist" doesn't conform to the widely accepted norm)

No one would want them.
Israel does not want a significant Arab population (one of the reasons they handed back the Gaza strip) and the neighbouring Arab nations don't want them either - they only use the Israeli situation to gain political ground at home.
The status quo actually suits the Israelis perfectly and the Palastinians have virtually no leverage whatsoever so can't see anything changing anytime soon. More settlements will be built on illegally occupied land, and rockets will continue to be fired at Israeli civilians from the Gaza Strip....and round and round we go.

Quite. The Israelis are not keen on the growing ratio in Israel now. Arabs just need to play the waiting game and demographics will win out

If they keep waiting, more and more Israeli settlements will be built and eventually there'll be nothing left for the Palestinian.
The Israeli are playing their hands very well and are winning easily at the moment.
What can the Palestinian do to change this? If the Russian or Chinese come to their aid then this could make a difference but what can they offer in return? Perhaps if the Arab states can do a deal with the oil hungry Chinese sometime in the future then they may be willing to get involved.

... apart from the matter that the Palestinian population is growing more quickly than the Israeli Jewish population and the Israeli Jews are going to end up as a minority in a supposedly (ho,ho) democratic country.996c2 said:

Are you sure you're watching the right game? Or perhaps you mean that since the Isralis are killing Palestinians on a ratio of about 100:1 they must be winning?Israel cannot "win". It's just a matter of time.
There is so much ignorance about this issue.

Please could somebody show me where Palestine is? Or where the Palestinians come from? Or, failing that, where would you like Palestine to be? Perhaps you can provide a link to a different map that shows where the state of Palestine used to be?
Palestine is not a country, it is a region. The name Palestine was coined by the British in 1920. It is actually derived from Phillistine, which was the name of a group of people from the region a couple of thousand years ago. Israel, Jordan and Syria are all in the Palestine region. Therefore Israelis are Palestinians!
The history of the region is very complex indeed. Borders have shifted throughout history. This is largely because the indigenous people used to be mostly bedouins. They didn't stick around in one place.
The whole idea that Israel steals territory from Palestine and subjugates the Palestinian people is politically motivated nonsense.

Stop it MAM! How dare you come on here with your factually accurate summations? This is PH and standards of ignorance must be preserved. Here is a map of the Middle East:http://www.mapsofworld.com/images/middle-east-map.jpg
