Iggy Pop drives a Tuscan

Almost recovering my disgust at Iggy Pop advertising car insurance, I spotted an ad featuring him and his skinny puppet in a purple Tuscan last night.

Now all we need is for Johnny Rotten to sing the praises of butter from a Griff and all will be right with the world.

No doubt "The Idiot" went "Nighclubbing", where he committed "Some Weird Sin" with "The Passenger", but he shouldn't worry because his "Stooges" will cover for him, so he can get back to his "Lust For Life" with the Raw Power" of his Tuscan, "Blah Blah Blah"...........................

Could this be another advertising faux pas like when it was found out that Iggy Pop doesn't even have a licence?

Yeah...that's what we need...more complainers instead of people who get on with their life and do something for themselves or others...

Then we end up without Iggy and the Tuscan on the telly bringing a smile to our faces and instead we can sit at home smug in the satisfaction that Swiftcover got a kicking from advertising standards for trying to be a bit fun and exciting...two things that everyone should, at all costs, try to avoid!!!!

Maybe I got out of bed the wrong side this morning but...THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TOO WORRY ABOUT!

No they don't. And they don't insure musicians either.

It's possible they have a special clause for haggered old crack addicts who would otherwise be excluded as one of those categories, but I'm guessing they just paid him a lot of money...

Who really cares if the insurer behind the ad actually covers the product shown. They don't say they do in the ad. They don't say they don't either. All insurers have exclusions.

If you are going to pull a piece of light hearted creative imagery apart, try starting with the key facts. The puppet supposedly drives the Tuscan, and in the US too. Neither of which options are available from Swiftcover to my knowledge.

The Tusc isn't even approved for use on US roads except when with commercial/film production exemption in place.

Just be pleased that somebody has decided a TVR is the right car for their ad, and any airtime for the marque is better than none.
