Aperture 3 and layers

Having bought Aperture 3 for £43 through the Mac App store, hopefully this will be a simple question - Does Aperture 3 do or have the concept of layers? I can't seem to find a definitive answer to that - so far, I've worked out that it doesn't/can't.

Don't believe it does - certainly not in the context of Photoshop layers if thats what you're trying to achieve.

My understanding is it does not have layers as PS does. You make all your edits to the one base layer

Or you don't. It leaves the original file intact and you can remove them afterwards.

It applies the changes to the image which when you output are merged to become a new image. The original remains there untouched.

Agreed, all changes are reversable and do not impact the original just a version that you may export at some time but the point I was trying to make is you do all your changes to one layer.
