Hi, does anyone know if there was a pre-defined ride height on the Dax Rush at all? Rebuilding one at the moment but it's sitting too low on it's adjustable coilover dampers (the sump is 4in off the ground and 1-2in lower than the chassis rails!)

Thanks to all who can help!

There will be plenty of kit cars that run lower than that. Four inches under the sump is good going. Genreally speaking, think in terms of getting the front lower wishbones level to the ground. That's a good starting point.

As above, 75mm is the minimum norm. 4" is loads of clearance.

Thanks all, my mistake....it was actually 3in, not 4 (so about 75mm). I've set about raising it somewhere between keeping the l/wishbones horizontal and 100mm sump clearance (as I believe that's that maximum legal height for a speed bump?)

Thanks again.

The height of a speed bump is only part of the issue. Another part is how far away from the front wheels is the lowest part of the sump? The point being that unless the spped bump is unusually short, the whole car will be going up as the bump is traversed, and there is less likelihood of the sump grounding.

Best bet is to give the factory a ring and ask.

The sump sits behind the line of the front axle, which is the reason for my concern. Agree with what you're saying....if it was inline with the axle it would rise and fall at the same time the wheels cross the bump. But the sump sits behind that line and where the pan itself has been modified, there is no angled/sloped front to it; it's totally vertical now! So any contact with the ground would be pretty abrupt!

Cheers

I realise it sit behind the axle (pretty strange 7 if it didn't) but the issue is how far behind- the further behind, the worse the problem, quite close, not so much.

Haven't measured the exactly distance, but I've now set the car up so that the sump is 100mm clear of the ground. Happily the front has actually ended up nicely level with the back. The wishbones are at a nice angle so I'm pleased all round.

Thanks again for the advice.
