SL55 OR C63 which one to buy :S

Right iv definitely decided that my next car is going to be a an AMG, I had a test drive today in the c63 at my local dealership and I had the biggest grin on my face.

but iv always loved the sl55's although iv heard they go wrong i was always planning to take out tier 1 warranty with merc themselves.iv seen one that I like which is an 05 plate pace car (F1) edition with super low miles. But I cannot decide out the two....can anyone give me some helpful advice

? As the they are fundamentally different in terms of style and practicality, I'm surprised you are asking....

Yep, very different although maybe you are just looking for a performance AMG car and are not fussed about back seats etc. I assume your budget is 35-40k. I run an sl55 and have driven a c63 briefly and:

sl55: better looking, supercharged with ridiculous torque that never ceases to amaze, convertible, only two seats, reliability an issue - less so with 04 onward models, mpg a little worse than 63's, 100k new so lots of luxuries

c63: more practical, lighter, more reliable, better more responsive gearbox, handling is better, although engine de-tuned compared with other 63 engines i.e. in e63, clk63, sl63 etc.

Have you considered a clk63? - could get a convertible, back seats, with full 63 engine and might be a good compromise between the two.

Also I would advise driving a 55 engine of any sort if not already done before deciding

Driven both and now on my 3rd c63 ppplus its a awesome car and pretty much untouchable for a four door saloon without spending silly money.

Thanks for the reply guys. I get they are different sort of cars so its bit odd comparing but I am just seeing what is more preferable.

my local dealership has found me a new c63 with the PPP and has offered a good finance deal, but after more thought id rather buy a car out so iv got a budget between 40-50 want to spend as less as possible but willing to for a good example.

These two cars are not really like for like...

• Do you need the back seats? Yes: C63, No: SL55
• Do you want a newer car with Manufacturers warranty (c63) or happy with an older car (Sl55)?
• Do you want a convertible or not?
• Do you want a posers car(SL55) or a more sedate(!) looking car?

For the record, I have a 63 and love it!
