Other people staring at your watch
Discussion
Does it make you feel selfconcious?
Noticed our divisional FD (peer on mgmt team) staring at my Sub today (he has an Armani fashion watch). Felt quite selfconcious. Kept covering it up with my cuff.
Anyone else noticed this? Another peer has a Omega PO (as have I as my Friday/weekend watch) but its less in your face.

WTF was I thinking?
Did you go temporarily blind Andy? That is hideous!
I wouldn't be worried about it OP, he may well be an enthusiast. There are plenty of people where I work who have nice watches; I spotted a guy who had a Bremont the other day. That is quite unusual!

So you bought yourelf a Rolex 'sub' - the most stereoptypically "look at me everybody" brand in existense and are now pretending to be coy and embarrassed when people notice it?Noticed our divisional FD (peer on mgmt team) staring at my Sub today (he has an Armani fashion watch). I can relate to that completely. I am hung like a horse, so naturally I feel constrained wearing trousers. To combat this I wander around in public with it hanging out, usually erect. But people just keep staring at me in a furious combination of jealousy or arousal depending on the sex. Quite disconcerting.

On the flipside I try not to stare too much when trying to figure out what someone's watch is. I "apparently" look like the type that mug people for their watches when I'm not in office gear. Looking about 18 and wearing a dark beanie hat and staring at someone's expensive watch tends to make people feel uncomfortable.
I'm guilty of this. If I catch a glance of a nice looking watch then I will have the odd glance every now and then to try and identify the watch. I'm not the type of person to go up to somebody and say, "Hey, I don't know you, nor do you know me but I like your watch. Can you tell me a bit about it please?". I just think of it much the same as looking at a nice car you see.
I would probably feel slightly self conscious if our FD were staring at my wrist in a board meeting. He'd probably be thinking "that bloke is paid too much" if I had a sub on.
Apart from that I quite like it, particularly when I'm wearing something unfamiliar to a non-enthusiast. I enjoy telling them what it is and, and only if they ask, what it cost. My boss loves my Sinn. He doesn't want the same watch for obvious reasons, but every time I send him a link to a Damasko for sale on TZ he gets a little bit closer to pushing the button.

Like a Porsche for example.

Bit harsh. Give the guy a break. Everyone is entitled to own something that may attract attention, but they simply like the product.

Im not critisising ownership at all.Like a Porsche for example.
Im just mildly amused by the act of buying something so showy and then moaning about attention. THe OP is like Jordan complaining that people talk to her tits.

If you're standing waiting for a train with your hand in your pocket and notice them staring at your watch, move your left hand up to scratch your ear. If their eye stays fixed, they're staring at your cock. HTH.
Or they were staring at what you were doing to your cock through the fiddle hole in your trousers.rhinochopig said:
