European GP 1993

Ok, I Don't have british TV. But watching this again.

I'm not sure how anyone has a reason to complain about TV commentators.

Funny how we all remember the Legend Muddy Talker for his funny errors yet at the time were probably screaming at the TV its not an X its a Y you muppet

Who cares about the commentators. If you dont like them turn off the sound and stare in awe at Senna's sublime opening lap.

I doubt that there will ever be another first lap such as this. I was at the bottom of the Craner Curves & i can clearly recall watching the great man come down the hill on the outside!

Maybe this is part of the issue - back in '93, there was something more interesting to do during GP's than analyse the commentary in intricate detail...

Although I can remember reading letters to varous magazines at the time complaining how boring the races were and how it was so much better in the 80's...

Murray's best commentary was always when he covered the bathurst 1000 or the BTCC.

I wasn't much of a Senna fan back in the day, but over time I have come to appriciate the talent that he had.

1st lap of Donnington
Monaco pole (cant remember if it was 88 or 89)
Suzuka 89
And that win for Toleman in the wet, Esteril 1984? Some of the best driving right there that you will ever witness.

However, as a Ferrari fan I'd also like to include Senna's lapping of Jean Louis Schlesser at Monza 1988

His first win was for Lotus at Estoril in 1985. In 1984 he nearly won at Monaco.

Senna was, for me, the best. Flawed in some ways i would agree however he was head & shoulders above the rest of the grid.

Donington 93 was one of my sublime moments - it was wet & bloody cold but it was also worthwhile to be in the presence of a genius.

One of my regrets is that he didnt get to race against Schumacher. Had Senna lived i very much doubt that Schumacher would have won 7 world titles.

I was at the top of the Craner Curves, cold and sopping wet !! (anyone that was there will NEVER forget the rain) I was so cold I even bought a Donington GP sweatshirt to try and keep warm (I still have the sweatshirt)

He did, for almost three seasons.

Unfortunately, Schumacher's rise to the top was just at the point Senna died. In fact, the rise of Scumacher was instrumental in Sennas fate.

Indeed - you only have to look at who went on to win the race on that fateful day.

I was there - saw Senna coming down the hill from Craner What a day wet cold and really miserable but everyone stayed because they wanted this race to last forever
