My parents turn 70 this year and are planning to move away from suburban London (Woodford area) into a part of the country that they love, East Sussex around the Uckfield, Haywards Heath area. Their main requirements are:

Walking distance to a high street for shopping, cafes, restaurants etc.
3 bedroom house with garden big enough to replacement their allotment, preferably spending below £400k
Friendly nieghbourhood

Is this achievable in that area?

Any particular recommendations for places to live or places to avoid?

Yep, no problem at all. Uckfield is a bit cheaper than HH. I have some places that could very well fit the bill.

Should be achievable, but I wouldnt want to live in Uckfield.
If there wanting peace and quiet on a flat should be able to afford Edenbridge, its abit out the sticks but has its own supermarket is a small village in my eyes.

Coastal I would go for Seaford.
