This week, I have decided to have a different soup every day. Sainsburys over the road from my office, so I have a huge choice available.

Yesterday, I had a Heinz Big Soup - Cumberland sausage and vegetable - it was quite enjoyable to be honest. I'm not sure I want to know what was in the sausage, but it tasted broadly authentic...

Today, I had a Heinz farmers market chicken and veg. Apparantly the recipe was inspired by farmers markets. It was like salty baby sick.

I also invested in a baxters mushroom pottage the other day. That was nice....

thing is, I just can't get past Heinz cream of tomato for my all time favourite.

What do you like and are there any tinned soupey gems that I'm missing out on?

Heinz Mulligatawny. Although every tinned soup seems to be too salty and leaves an aftertaste in my mouth for the rest of the day.

this was the first that came to my mind too. i do agree that heinz COT is good but probably because of all the associated childhood memories.

Like the chap below said, probably childhood memories.

Goes particularly well with a hot sausage roll. Also, I don't mind drinking it out of a mug - you couldn't do that will some lumpy posh affair.

I used to like Campbells condensed COT or COC or COM, but they seem to have dissappeared from the shelves.

I suppose you could massala this up, and make it into a sort of daahl. Not that I'm going to do that in my office mind.

I think I'll give this a try tomorrow. I was eyeing it up earlier, but (wrongly) opted for the baby sick.

It could be I suppose, although I don't really like the CG soups. They used to do an OK moroccan chicken, but thats now gone, and the tomato/chicken/leep & potato offerings seem to be no nice than that tinned ones.

The only thing that I'm not allowing it powdered cup-a-soup type things. To me, they are in the same category of grub as Pot Noodles, Smash, Billy the Bear "ham", turkey twizzlers and those revolting Fridge Raider things.

i heard on the radio t'other week that campbells are coming back having signed a new agreement with a manufacturer.

if we can have cartons then, tesco lentil & smoked bacon is very nice.

eta - condensed is best made the 'posh' way with milk instead of water
