Did that using a Dremel tool, on my work desk at home - 2 hours per port and a lounge full of aluminium dust Useful I think if you want to suck out some low/midrange torque for driveability and get a bit of top end in exchange (I can see why TVR Power did it on the 500 Taraka conversion) - but properly shaped trumpets will net 'more' under a bigger part of the torque curve.

The 38 mm version...

I am not to sure yet to tell the truth . It can take a standard plenum or it could be run open as in the picture with an emerald ecu so probably something in between .

Um, I'd be inclined to stick a large air filter on top of it. Scraping off remnants of small animals from engine internals hasn't ever sounded like fun to me.

So what's the real gain here ? I have seen one of these before and struggled to understand what the benefit was (I am a bit of a numpty though !) Would those butterflies restrict a wee bit, at least have some countersunk screws holding them to the spindles. I'm guessing you will eliminate trumpet 'crosstalk' (for the want of a better word) ??

That, and I think individual throttles would be a bit of a waste on top of a std Rover intake manifold casting?

IIRC it proved to have a 20-30bhpish gain losing the plenum & induction pipework. Made a spectacular noise & seemed fairly expensive ~ but TB's aren't exactly peanuts...

..but as Rob once commented just removing the plenum works quite well as long as you don't need a throttle

The main benefit is their abilty to make a wild cam more drivable . The butterflies are 48mm and fitting the base alone with no other mods gave 10hp so it is not restrictive .The cost for the throttle bodies is about £1000 or the kit which also includes emerald ecu , loom , coil packs etc. is about £2300 plus vat.

Personally the figures it showed when run 'open top' were more interesting to me.. it was one element building up the belief that the long TVR / 14CUX induction is a big sap

That is a blooming good price! as you say chuck a decent solid cam on top for another £700 and you should be well into the 350 club.
