The Epistles tell me the the switch is a Lucas 33829A. Not having luck with that number (or a "hazard switch for a 280i" if I ignore the part number).

Last time I asked, someone mention the switch was used on other cars - no surprise - but which ones? Or is the number correct?

It's becoming more urgent has I have now lost my turn signals too. I don't relish trying to recreate that white plastic wafer in the switch. Thanks Grady

These style of switches are TR7, but whether TR7 used the same switch for their hazards I'm not sure.
Anyway, there are or were three TR7 hazard switches in Georgia.

Scroll down to 36,37 & 38.
Hope the page isn't too out of date.

To save me going back to look for your old post....
How many contacts on the hazard ?
I do have a TR/MG place about 30 minutes from me, so if that website doesn't pan out. repost, I'll drive up there and pester them. (look through their boxes of bits etcsmile

ETA from the diag it's 7 contacts, assume that's correct.

I had loads of trouble trying to source all the switches..The headlight and fog switch are TR7..The fan switch is a Mk1 escort and the hazard i believe is from an austin princess..Thats why ive opted to eventually change mine for new type rocker switches..Ziga

Jeff - I'm 99% sure the TVR switch is an 8 pin switch while the TR-7 is a 7 pin one. I'll pull the dash apart this weekend and double check. I guess I can compare wiring diagrams and see what is different between a 7 vs 8 pin - they both must have the the turn signals running through the switch. Grady

Mr. Ziga did you keep the same wiring configuration or did you change that? If is the same 8 wires, what type of switch did you put in? thanks Grady

I referenced the Bible's wiring diagram and it shows 7 pins (if I'm on the correct page). I could swear I saw 8 when I last had it apart but 7 would seem more standard. More investigating this weekend. Grady

Could be 8 on the relay, 7 on the plug, they do thatsmile not just TVR.

Grady,
I haven't had chance to get to my local place yet as we got hit by a bucket load of snow.
It's a long shot, but they could have one.

I assume you only use your hazards once every five years like everybody else.

As an interim measure you could short out two pins in the unplugged plug.
Make up a small jumper wire with spade terminals and stick em on 5 and 7 in the plug. Green and Green/slate on my diag
It is needed to supply the turn signal 12v to the capacitor, the other contacts are open unless the switch is "on". So just the one jumper will get you back on the road. (but no hazards)
The only reason it goes thro that switch is so it can switch supply between the turn sig fuse and the hazard fuse. (I think that's silly)

You could then replace the switch for cosmetic reasons until one is found.
Jeff

PS make sure turn signal arm centred when you connect the pins or you'll get a big spark and smash your head on the steering wheelbiggrin

More like a couple of months ago. frown I didn't want to pester you about it. Once it's gone to the mail it's gone. But I'm hoping it turns up. It may be the salvation to my current problem. Thanks again! Grady

Hi Mate..Just a thought, You sure its not a relay or wire as when my headlight switch went i had no turn signal but did have hazards..Then my horn stopped working then the cigarette lighter..then my brake lights...There are other rocker switches out there although its hard to find one the same size...They seem to be a lot smaller..I was thinking of using these later..Cheers..ziga

Not that silly: indicators only need to work when the ignition's on but the hazards may have to be left flashing on an unattended car... so the hazard fuse has a permanent supply while the indicators' is ignition-switched.

You Sir,...are correct
but as we in usa only have the option of the V6 we have to jettison all the weight we canbiggrin

Hi Jeff - thanks for trying. It's been (relatively anyway) too cold and too frozen-over here to worry about the switch.

Anyway I have one on order that may work. Since I can't remember 7 vs 8 pins, I thought I'd wait until it arrives from the UK and is tested before I'd give a report. I'm expecting it in the next couple of days. Grady

Happy Valentines Day to me! In the mail today I received not 1 but 2 hazard switches - apparently the Royal Mail batches them up for shipping!

So Shaun I opened yours first - no return address or invoice but I could feel the switch in the package - dug it out and thought - "why, it's used???"

Then I opened the next one (in a universal joint box but with a receipt) and sussed it out. Shaun's long lost switch - sent in November or December - showed up first by a nose!

I hope to report complete success - clearly the externals are the same - but it will be 2 weekends before I can play car again as I have to go to West Texas next weekend to check on elder son and school.

More to come - and many thanks to all! Grady
