Daytona Prototypes
Discussion
With Daytona this weekend its got me thinking if Daytona Prototypes could be eligible for Britcar in the future. I know that Britsports died a death (& seperately the SPEED Series, nee VdeV UK, didn't succeed) but these must be (relatively) cost effective cars to run compared to LMP2 (or even some GT3) or similar cars. OK, they are pig ugly (but so are V8 Utes IMHO and that hasn't stopped Britcar trying that) but what the hell. How about giving it a go?
It's a dull day in the office, sorry!

Dear God, no more of those hideous DPs in the UK. The one in the paddock last year at the Rockingham British GT round caused such a torrent of vomit through the pit lane that race meeting almost had to be abandoned.
Just thinking about it is enough to make me......oh god....I've just been sick in my mouth a little.

Yes, damned ugly but undeniably effective and, at its level, probably good value for money.
They'd probably have looked better as open cars rather than having a conservatory built on top but hey ho. No uglier than the Fun Cup cars & some people are very enthusiastic about those. (different level, I know)

Well the latest version of the DPs (Gen 3) actually look quite good, I reckon. Especially the Corvette inspired design.

I think the older versions can be modified to suit the new look with either a generic body or a factory inspired one.

And after watching the last few hours of the Daytona 24, who can't like the latest DPs? The cars were running as quickly at the end as they were at the beginning, are extremely robust (enough for McNish & Allmedinger to be bouncing off the kerbs, and each other, at 22 hours in) and look the part (The latest Gen 3 modifications are actually quite pretty, I think). 12 out of the 13 DP starters finished and the winning margin was just over just 5 seconds. Britcar should differentiate itself by running DPs as its top class. Possibly cheaper to run than a Ferrari, too!!

Please be careful what you write. The SPEED Euro series is a support race for the Le Mans Series now so it is in good health. It's a dull day in the office, sorry!
