Does anyone have any info on how you insure your car when you are working out of the country.

I am trying to reinsure my car at the moment and 2 well known insurance brooker's have told me that because I work out of the country Monday to Friday they can not quote for the car. Apparently my time out of the country means I am not a resident, even though I got a huge UK income tax bill and still have to pay all of my council taxes etc. I have been working out for the country for several years now and have never experienced this problem before.

Has anyone had this problem and do they know where I can get insured? Its only a Mini 850 and I am looking for limited miles!

As long as the car is not going out of the country for long periods and you are a resident of this country you should have no problems. Where is your car registered to?

I've been working in foreign climes for months at a time for 3.5yrs now, never once had a problem with car insurance.

House insurance was a different matter though.
