Here are some pics of the chassis fresh back from the blaster, the usual out rigger problems but on the hole not to bad. Forgive the pun!!

Thats what i consider quite a solid chassis.

Like 7TVR, can't do multiple pics either, they all disappear into Thumbsnap. Could you share the secret and help us both?

There are probably a few different ways of doing it but here is how I do it:

You need the url of each individual from thumb snap the photo from thumbsnap which should start in http:// and end in .jpg an example of one of 7's is http://thumbsnap.com/i/WIxwH6GJ.jpg

The use the following formatting codes (in front of the url place [img] and at the end [/img]

[img]URL of you Picture here[/img]

repeat this for each picture

[img]URL of Picture 1[/img]

[img]URL of Picture 2[/img]

[img]URL of Picture 3[/img]

In fact if you hit "quote" on my previous post with the pictures you can see exact text.

I would have thought patches welded as a minimum to regain structural integrity. Better to replace sections of the tube as it will be thinned and considerably weakened.

In for a penny in for a pound so it's going to be new out-riggers as once the water has got inside fear is the metal is weakened and thinned as dbv8 stated! Plus due to the great facilities and and quality of work available at the chassis shop, i figured i'd just bite the bullet. This car is a long term keeper so figure its best to invest in it's future. I had planned to do alot of this work myself but due to the arrival of little Daisy and a severe lack of garage space due to a on going MG TF project i'm now very pleased just to be managing the build! I'm also in the process of building my first home which is proving to be akin to standing over a large hole and burning £50 notes!! Just hope the wife does not notice any of the changes when the cars finished or i'm dead!!

Sorry men,, not for me,, Heavy pin hammer knock in ruff edges to a 45 degree angle fill with braise, Strong as the original. fill inside with cavity wax to slow down future rusting,,

Gotta agree you have gone this far so why not treat her to some new metal.

I found a tiny hole in mie after hitting repeatedly but replaced with 3mm thick outriggers and all the plates just for good measure.

As easy as this would to buzz up and repair I would go for the new outrigger route too no way would I go this far not to sorry YellowGriff your right in saying a satisfactory repair could quite simply be carried out though

Yeh Brass is as strong as steel. That must be the reason behind most ships being built of brass............

Does polish up nice though.

Might cost a bit more in Brass

Stepping back to see the wood for the trees, seems a bit like everyone is getting blinded by outrigger replacement to me. I can certainly see the point of a quick repair & later on money saved for a brand new chassis rather than renewing only a bit of the chassis IYSWIM.

Why a brand new chassis Spend ? apart from those small area's I bet that chassis is A1 everywhere else coated properly with those areas chopped out that thing should last bloody age's,I certainly would not want to lift twice

I can't afford to lift twice what with all the other work going on! just want that feeling when its all back together that its like new if not better. Was to young and piss poor ever to own a new Griff and have waited a long time to realize this dream, i know i'm spending more than the car cost me, but after losing my father recently i decided life to short not to follow your dreams, we built a couple of cars together and know he would love this. You only go round once!!!!! Cheers Dad
