Have today received a retention certificate from the DVLA for a number plate that was recently taken off one of my cars and they have spelt my surname incorrectly.

Any idea's how I can have this amended? Do I even need to bother - I mean when I assign it to my new car I would just sign the form and send it along with the paper work or would they require the name on the retention certificate to match the new cars V5 doc?

Been looking on their website but found no info about having this corrected so any help appreciated.

Thanks

I had the same issue.

Phone them up and ask.

IIRC I had to:

Send it back with covering letter.

Phone up to ask why I'd heard nothing back.

Send a fax explaining what had happened and that I still hadn't received the ammended document.

It was a pain!

Make a copy of it before you send it to the DVLA.

You could risk not bothering, but it would be even more of a pain if you had issues when you wanted to assign it.

^^^^^^ similar happened to me.

Mark the error in red on the cert and make a copy, and post back as above with a covering letter. Mine came back with no fuss, took around 2 weeks though.

Was going through my old posts and thought I would update.

Thanks for the advice - I sent them a letter and proof of my surname and they sent me a new one in a couple of days.

Or send it Recorded Delivery in the first place?!
