I was there when he picked the car up and he had a good look round it and didn't mention anything so it might be a bit unfair to point the finger at anyone, as we all know paint chips can suddenly appear un-noticed until the car is washed or waxed.
I saw the car when it was in X-works workshop while it was waiting for parts and to be picked up and it was always covered and they always cover teh paintwork of cars while they're being worked on as I'm sure all reputable gargages do.

It's disappointing that he's getting rid of it so soon. I was looking forward to following this in EVO. I think the reason he gave in the mag was that he had too many 'summer' cars already and couldn't justify having another...
Wonder if that's the real reason or if the car is a lemon? I'm sure it's not but was surprised all the same.

It still frustrates me that it was a dimwit driver's complete lack of basic mechanical sympathy that caused this engine to fail so catastrophically. You wouldn't keep driving when an engine makes noises you know it shouldn't do. And if you read the latest Evo, they've just had a Mazda's turbo fail at very low mileage and this again, will be a direct result of too many different drivers not giving the car the care it deserves when it comes to cooling down and giving 20-30 seconds of idling time before stopping the engine - and the oil supply to a still-spining turbo.

Having spoken to Harry when he wrote the articles for Sprint he explained at the outset that it was only a 'short term' addition to his fleet, as he didn't want to prejudice his 'impartiality'. In the article he wrote for us he compared it favourably with his Zonda with reference to the 'ferocity of acceleration' of both cars being something you never tire of.Wonder if that's the real reason or if the car is a lemon? Back to the reason for the engine rebuild and as mentioned above the car was taken on track by a member of the Evo or Octane staff who gave the car a pretty hard session on track, I'm not sure if the fluid levels had been checked or not but the engine started to make some 'noises' and instead of doing what you or I would do and switching off and getting the car recovered to a garage to investigate he drove the car a good few miles home!!
The fact that the rebuild was paid for by the magazine says it all.
