the Pros all swear by Fizik Aliantes but they are close to £200. you can pick up the arione for less than £100 or the antares around £125. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/BrandCategory.a...

Exactly how green is your bike? If it's a Bianchi then check out the range here:

There were some bargains last time I looked. As above I'm not sure if you're a snake, chameleon or bull but may be worth doing the toe-touch test beforehand (if looking at a Fizik that is).

whilst not strictly a road saddle, I run one of these which I find comfy enough and the cromo version on my MTB

I've had a couple of Fizik Arione Tris which have been very comfy, but either Trek/Bontrager dealers or Spesh dealers do a measuring/fitting service - you plonk your behind on a gizmo that measures the width of your sit bones and they then provide a saddle of the appropriate size and shape.
Specialized Romin for me.
Most other folk I know that have tried them rave about them too. I'm currently going through the process of replacing the saddles on all my bikes with them. I've only used the non-gel version, but it seems that nowhere can get that in white and 143mm, so the place I placed the order at have given me a free 'upgrade' to the comp gel version. I'm interested to see how it compares.
