I need new channel rubbers for the door window frames.
It is for a Vixen S3 (probably the same as the early M series.
There are to sizes used in the frame.
Left side is 14 x 6 mm and right and above is 14 x 12 mm.

Any idea where I can buy them

The smaller of the two is not a rubber ..OE is a now obsolete canvas window channel strip that is stuck into the upright channel with evostik..I now supply a modern day version of this, which is less prone to rotting and is black (rather than white) but still needs to be stuck in ..the top and in some cases side as a separate piece (which ever version you have) I stock, along with the 2 versions of felt water excluder strips.

Vixen,

How did you get on with replacing the window rubbers. I want to do the same in my S3 and any tips would be very helpful.

Hi Steve,
I have ordered the correct window rubbers from Adrian.
He can supply a complete set for both doors. It's a very easy job.
Just pull out the old rubbers from the frame and remove as much of the old glue.
The new rubbers from Adrian fit perfect and are a 15 minute job to fit.
With the set also comes new felt strips(where the window slides through up and down)that you
just press on the frame (the original where rivited)

I hope this helps

Eric,

Thanks, that sounds straight forward. Did you need to take the frame out of the door or can you fit the rubbers with the frame in situ?

Steve,
I took the doors complete apart for restoration.
So the window frames were on the kitchen table and fitting the rubbers was very easy.

To fit the rubbers with the frames still on the door will be very difficult.
You must remove the door trim but then all the other stuff is still in the way like
the door lock system and window winder mechanism . Also the workspace in the door is very limited.

The best thing is to take the door off the car and restore also the other stuff inside
if this has never been done. And then you can also easy check the door hinges for wear.

Eric

Eric,

That's what I really need to do. I was just wondering if I could replace the rubbers easily as a temporary solution to save wearing the winder mechanism.
