PH Sunday Service At Mini: Final Reminder

First Sunday Service of 2011 this weekend is a sell-out (well, an FOC one) - so check you're on the list!

The first Sunday Service of the year is fast approaching, and it’s set to be our biggest ever, with a capacity of 800 cars.

Aside from the inevitable bacon butties and coffee, MINI is also going to put the current line-up, along with a few models from the heritage collection - including some true Mini icons – on display undercover in what they call the 'T- Building'.

It looks like being a cracking morning, but for those going along we do have to deal with a few housekeeping issues first…

  • Unfortunately, with parking strictly limited to 800 cars, your name must be on our Sunday Service list in the calendar section of the site or we won’t be able to let you in (and if you are on the list please check you’re down under the correct username before you set off!).
  • There is also a reserve list that will fill spaces if there are any drop-outs from the list – so if you can’t go, please remove your name as soon as possible to give your fellow PHers a chance.
  • Gates will open at 09.00 and will close at 13.00. MINI has asked us to ensure that all cars have left the site as close to 13.00 as possible so we would appreciate it if you could vacate promptly at the end of the meet.
  • Finally, here’s how to find the MINI plant and the T building.

See you on Sunday!

I'm local and this slipped under my radar, I would love to be there...so if 7 people could remove their names I'll be very happy! smile

I want to get the Eisenmann exhaust on show!

The PHSS started with members meeting to look at each others cars, while supping a polystyrene mug of tea in a car park. That ethos hasn't changed, so the main emphasis is looking at readers cars, chatting to members and admiring the new cars and displays presented by the host manufacturer

So, the short answer to your question is, not really smile

Dear Deirdre,

'an free of charge one '

it just doesn't sound right

but neither does

'a free of charge one'

completely satisfy

Do I have a problem? (other than off topic pedantry) biggrin

An interesting debate to open up. I would argue that, since the convention is to read capped-up acronyms as letters rather than the words they stand for, an 'an' is fine.

When I read it (in my head, at least) it comes out as 'an eff-oh-see one', buit I don't think there's any hard and fast rule either way... smile

There is also a long list of wonderful metal/plastic/carbon etc that fellow members will be arriving in to look at, drool over and discuss.

A chance to have a proper natter with people face to face as opposed to typing and the real bonus a hoon on the way there.

Also good to put a face to the names of the people that run all this for us.

Oxford is also full of things to do, we are going to check out the Smithsonian and Natural History museums in the afternoon.

So, my first post after years of reading! I've just taken myself off the list for Sunday. The good news (for me anyway)is I'm still coming but have wrangled a lift with 'BAMDC2' and/or 'BMW UK'. It wasn't really fair for me to bring my shed when I can get a lift there anyway, whilst someone else (with a more interesting toy) missed out, so XX - you and your M3 are now in! Looking forward to meeting some of you there for what should be a good first Sunday Service smile

I shall be in a Rover (P5B) so I suppose they won't be able to turn me away.

Shouldnt the people who are going as a passenger remove their name from the list, after just a quick list I have seen at least two people taking up spaces, just saying "passenger" or coming with x...

Good point, although "coming with" could mean "in convoy" rather than in the same car. I'll have a whip through and remove any just passenger names though.
