Bit of cylinder head advice (again!) please :P
Discussion
Some (if not all) will have seen several of my topics in relation to a z22se vectra, burning coolant out of the back like there's no tomorrow. Seller informed me the car had previously had a cracked head but this was sorted at great expense (but i dont know what was done).
Anyway, took the head off, no obvious cracks on the surface or otherwise and nothing terrible obvious on the gasket itself.
Looking on the block, there's a small patch of rush inbetween cylinder 3 and 4 and the inlet manifold gasket (it isnt a full length type of gasket, its a small rubber seal by the looks of it) is all messy on #4. I cant confirm whether this is whilst i've been removing things or not, but there's a fair but of gunk around #4 inlet which is wet, the other 3 seem dry.
There's also very very faint rust around cylinders 2 and 3 on the block.
Ive been quoted £31 for a pressure test at the local enginners and he can have it done tomorrow. Im at a loss as to what to do now, as it was steaming out the back but there's no apparent cause. Is it that gunk filled area of the inlet manifold? Is it worth pressure testing the head or am i wasting cash?
What would you do?

I'd pressure test it and poss have the head and block inspected for flatness.
If it tells you that alls ok, then you know the prob is elsewhere. If it tells you the head, or block are warped then its worth the money to stop you chasing your own tail.
50 quid to find out alls ok is well worth it. 50 quid to find out you need a new head is annoying, but worth it imho. 50 quid to find out the block is lunched from previous head failure, although piss boiling is worth it to stop you spending more than that in time, gaskets and coolent trying to fix an unfixable problem.
hope it checks out ok!

You're right, it gives me an idea what the problem actually is. Cheers, i'll get it down to them this afternoon If it tells you that alls ok, then you know the prob is elsewhere. If it tells you the head, or block are warped then its worth the money to stop you chasing your own tail.

obviously get the head checked but it could just have been a poorly fitted head gasket - They'll last less than a year if they were not cleaned properly and although some might disagree, I personally think not skimming a head leaves too much s
te in the pores of the alloy from the sealer of the old gasket meaning the new gasket won't take properly - even a greasey finger print on a surface can cause gasket to weep
