I did that twice in my C63....I'm always playing fuel light bingo. You must have been driving fairly briskly to run out in 20 miles though!

I once did over 100 miles with the light on in an Alfa 156 20v JTD...then wondered why it ran out.

wow that is scary actually!,

in my sl55 i never let the pointer get too far below quarter-tank because of this. Don't know if others ever use this but on the dials you can get a 'range' so when fuels low i guess it gives approx time before its dry - don't know how accurate it is though. Also I remember coming from my m3 (21mpg) to 55 (14mpg) and thinking its only 7mpg whats the big deal. After some maths work I realised I'm paying nearly 50% more per year in fuel! - AMGs are extremely thirsty.

On a seperate note off-topic, because I am considering changing to possibly a clk63 later this year as need back seats, are the 63 engines actually more economical than the 55's or is it about the same, probably been covered before but I have no idea - figures online suggest urban consumption as 13.1mpg (sl63), 13.9 (c63), 13.5 (sl55)and 14.8 (e55)??

Classic AMG-think there.

Whenever the fuel light comes on, my next stop is the petrol station - more so in the C63.

The range is rather comical though, if you coast, it will suddenly give a you false sense of security.

Then the moment you put your fut to the floor, it plummets!

Absolutely! tried the range thing on the sl55 when light came on just for a laugh (showed 65 miles remaining), drove hard for no more then about 800 yards then checked again.....it was showing 27 miles eek
