Is the steering column internal shaft actually a shortened version of the vauxhall?
Reason being I've stripped mine down to replace the lower bearing which goes through the lower fibreglass baulk head to find it has been welded then ground back to a smooth finish. Would this be the same for all the griffs ? I wouldn't want it to be a mistake and have a dangerous steering column that may snap! Thanks

Can you do me a favour THREEFISHORANGE and take loads of pictures of the steering shaft, bulkhead and the bearing.
I'd not only love to have and keep the pictures but I have an annoying clunk which I think might be that bearing so I want to know what I might be up against.

That TVR modified lower unit and the outer tube as such was the only thing re used (although I swapped the key unit) and yes that is the way this was..it had failed the MOT on the knuckle and steering head bearing failure, I had a new Vauxhall part on the shelf and transferred the TVR parts across ...I am now looking to replace that to stock and the what is left is sitting here on my office table! and hopefully not at Vauxhall current prices and definitely not at TVR prices!
