Any info on this?
Discussion
Hi - bought this off a mate quite a while ago. Sat in my omega box doing nothing wondered if anybody could tell me anything about it.
Guessing its quite old - is it worth anything to anyone? I think it could do with a service as its making a noice as the arm is swinging in the back. Who could service it?
Some pics -

It has unfortunately suffered water ingress, and has been left for a long period of time with the water/moisture in the watch.
The bit moving in the back is called a rotor.
Ta - is there no way it can be serviced / cleaned up inside then re-sealed or is there no point now.The bit moving in the back is called a rotor.
Erm. A really old Kinetic?? Quartz with a rotor?

I think yours is a Pre-Kinetic model known as a AGS (Automatic Generating System) the rotor or pendulum makes electricity like a dynamo on a pushbike, and it is then stored to be released to make the watch run, so not quite an automatic.
As for repair I don't know, you would have to see the degree of rust around the delicate components inside the watch. If there is a large rust spot at the centre of the fingers, which there is, that is usually a bad sign.
See how you go with it, if it is destined for the bin, I would like a go at bringing it back to life.
Well it still works and oddly I kind of like it so would rather not bin it. What kind of tool would i need to open this up. It appears to have teeth around the edge of the back of the case. I might just take it to a watch shop but I think it might cost me a fortune to get them to go over it...As for repair I don't know, you would have to see the degree of rust around the delicate components inside the watch. I am sorry I jumped the gun and assumed it was dead.
The case back removal tools can be bought off E-Bay, either a 2 prong or three prong wrench will do the job.
Or if you want to cheat, the jaws of a veneer caliper will unscrew it off easily.
Nope it still works and keeps time really well. Just bought a watch tools set off ebay so will have a look. I did wear it in a swimming pool a year back or so - i think which is where it may have picked up the moisture. The case back removal tools can be bought off E-Bay, either a 2 prong or three prong wrench will do the job.

Will have to wait and see! Thanks
