Since Monday, and it's getting annoying now.

Tried Rennies (?) and am currently chomping charcoal tablets 3 times a day ( yuck ).
It tends to settle but then flair up again especially in the middle of the night, but lying on my back helps.

The pain is at the upper part of my stomach.

What are the best over the counter remedies to use?

Ta.

If it's flaring up at night then are you eating late? Is / does a certain food trigger the trapped wind? Maybe keep a food diary and see if there is a trend occurring?

Having a quick gander on the internet, suggestions are -

Mint
Peppermint tea
sipping boiled water (as hot as you can stand)
bicarbonate soda in water
exercise
rubbing your belly in a clockwise motion

Sitting on the bog and cocking your leg up?

Put yourself in a really, genuinely terrifying situation. And follow through. Hard.

Either that or Picolax...

Just been and bought some Colpermin - hopefully that'll work.

Have to say, not much coming out the arse end so perhaps some Senokot as well?

As for putting myself in a terrifying situation - that wouldn't work.
Nothing scares me, I'm a hard baarstard. smile

The pharmacist did say to go and see a GP if it lasts over the weekend.
Do GPs have a magic cure?

Things like Rennies and Bicarb of Soda just convert stomach acid into yet more gas. If gas doesn't eventually come out, then it may not be gas but acid reflux or something else you need your GP to check. I occasionally get trapped wind with burgers and find those little tablets called Wind-Eze or whatever are very good. Your supermarket should have an equivalent generic.

Sound more like a peptic ulcer to me.

Still have a packet in the cupboard if you are interested.
Whilst it would be funny to spike someone with it, I fear it may be a little bit too 'weapons-grade' to be used humanely.

The OP sounds like he could do with it though.

I've got some Senokot Max Strength, but not sure if I should take it when I'm taking the Colpermin.

Not sure I want the nuclear laxative right now!

The other thing I've noticed, is that when I eat rice I can feel it going down my gullet and it's uncomfortable.
No other food feels like it.

Some of those things don't work with everyone so the spiking may not be a problem. For instance, I found that Lactulose just rotted my teeth rather than cleared my bowels out. Vomiting seemed a better way of keeping the weight down.

Just kidding.
