Won't start

Bloody Hell

Unlock door with key fob, sit down, turn key, pump primes... then nothing.. wont even turn over even though there's plenty of battey power.

Help. Please..

I had this and it was the damn hot start relay had dropped out, but as it wasn't in the footwell all looked fine. Put another relay in and boom.

Got a 100a fuse in yours Lazyitus?

Or it could be a loose or kaked up wire to the starter.

Can't remember if the fuel cutoff under the dash will stop the car turning over but I doubt it. Worth checking but it might be a red herring.

Yes, but surely the pump wouldn't prime if it was this? I dunno..

Was that you with the bonnet up in the retail park in crewe yesterday afternoon?
Was going to stop but I had a very dirty springer on board and had no tools.
Hope you resolve the issue.

Dodgy ignition switch?

Used to happen to mine too from time to time.

Installed a bypass switch with a direct feed to the starter and it would start every time.

Eventually got round to replacing the ignition switch and since then, no further problem.

Does everything go off at this point ie:clock stops,ignition light goes out, windows wont work etc.

If this is the case then it could be a bad main chassis earth,this happened to me I only started the car and then backed out of the garage and stopped it then NOTHING.Checked battery etc and it turned out to be a high resistance in the main chassis earth,made up a new cable larger than the original with more strands of copper in it and no problem after that.

Hi Jon,i usually jack the car up a tap the solenoid with a nylon hammer while someone else tries the key.If that works then its a new starter. But check the connections on the solenoid for corosion first.If no joy give us a shout and i will nip over,only half mile away.Regards,Dave.Also forgot to mention while car is jacked up you can check for 12v at the solenoid on crank request[turn key to start]if no 12v then the problem is further back.

I had something similar recently. Car started fine and drove to work. Come to take it out at lunch time and nothing from the starter. Kept trying all afternoon but had to get a push start eventually.

When I got home - all fine again

Don't know that I have fixed it but I pulled out the birds nest in the footwell and redid all the connections for the hot start - replaced the choc blocks with soldered connectors. Took out the starter and cleaned all the connections, also replaced the 100A fuse and holder.

So far it hasn't reoccured but I've only used it a few times. Sunday will be the test when I want to go to the Sunday Service...... (any other day it wouldn't matter)

Managed to bump start it, so assuming it's the starter/solenoid. Will give it a look over and clean asap but it's stranded at work now until Monday.

Loose connection to starter motor, that's all.

Fixed, working. Pleased.
