Hi guys
Off on business to KL end of febuary.

Not been in to watches but that's changed big time. My first 2 purchases are to be Rolex daytona SS version and tag monaco ls, leather strap version.

Now anyone know where in KL the best place is to go and buy these 2 items. Will be phoning next week and checking availabiltity with official dealers, prices etc

Thanks

The watch shop in KLCC at the concourse level near KFC has gone, there are many alternatives especially in Paviallion, along Bukit Bintang. Bangsar shopping Centre has some very nice watch shops also.

Is it worth going with an authorised dealer? i am complete watch novice so excuse some of stupid questions.

According to rolex website there is only one AD:
Menara Dion Level 32 Jalan Sultan Ismail
50540 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
03-2072-2709

Any help and suggestions would be great.

Thanks

I'm living and working in KL at the moment and with reference to the post above I think Andy means the Gardens Mall and the Mega-mall at Mid Valley as I don't think there is a shopping centre with watch shops at Bangsar.

There's some nice watch shops in the Gardens Mall as it's quite upmarket with TAG, Omega, Bell & Ross shops etc (it's the type of mall with Louis Vuitton, Boss, Gucci shops - you get the picture). Just over the road and connected by a walkway is the Mega-mall. This mall has shops selling cheaper watches i.e. Seiko, Swatch, Casio etc. It's easy to get to these malls from wherever you are in the city as there's a railway station at Mid Valley (called Mid Valley!).

One piece of advice I will give you is make sure you buy your watch in one of the upmarket malls; it's amazing just how much fake stuff there is in KL, I bought some DVDs the other day in Tower Records in a resonable looking mall that turned out to be fakes. If you see something that seems just too much of a good deal it's more than likely not all it seems.

The Pavilion Mall and the mall at the bottom of the Petronas towers are also worth a look.

Good hunting!

Richard.

We bought Lou's Oyster Date in KL (Pavilion) for a significant discount to UK list...

They offered me a stainless Daytona from the safe... It was even more than the UK!

So, I wouldn't get toooooo excited about buying from there, though I wish you all the luck in the world as it is where I go for a look as Singapore (where i am) is even more expensive at the moment!

With reference to my post above there are a couple of small malls in Bangsar Village but there's no watch shops to talk about in either of them,(unless you want a Guess watch!).

There is another large mall in town called Plaza Berjaya but I haven't been in there so I can't report on the watch shops. I'll drop in there tomorrow if I get time as I'm looking for a nice automatic Seiko Divers watch - they're quite difficult to find here surprisingly.

Yes, there are several watch shops in Bangsar Shopping Centre, including one selling rare second hand stuff. BSC is a couple of km further out than Bangsar village, heading towards Damansara.

I bought my wife's Tag is the KLCC a few years ago for much less than UK list price (around 30% less).. From memory, there were 2-3 watch shops in the CC, but I guess that was quite a while ago!
